Energy in the Room: Celebrating the Annual UQ Energy Executives Dinner

16 March 2023

Leaders of the Queensland energy industry joined with senior UQ energy researchers for the Annual UQ Energy Executives Dinner, held at Customs House in mid-March.

The event was an opportunity for energy executives and academic experts to discuss current and emerging energy issues in a relaxed environment.

UQ Vice-Chancellor Professor Deborah Terry and Queensland Resources Minister the Hon. Scott Stewart MP addressed guests on the role of gas in the energy transition.

Centre for Natural Gas Director, Professor Andrew Garnett, spoke of the need for energy sources that are cheaper, more versatile, cleaner and as reliable as existing options.

"The Stone Age didn't end because of a lack of stone. The Coal Age didn't end because of a lack of coal. Change comes because of demand alternatives not because of restricting supply," Professor Garnett said.
